What is Palliative Care?
Guest Speaker: David Wollner, M.D.
This talk will review the history and evolution of hospice and palliative care, with a focus on more recent developments in the USA, and a projection of the field’s future.
About the Speaker:
David Wollner MD, FACP, AGSF, Team Physician for the Palliative Care Service of the South Nassau Communities Hospital. He has thirty years of experience in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He is trained and board certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, Geriatric Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He has been elected to Fellow status in the American College of Medicine, the American Geriatrics Society, the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the New York Academy of Medicine. Dr. Wollner serves on the American Geriatrics Society Bioethics Committee and was a recent scholar to the NYU/ Montefiore program in Bioethics and the Medical Humanities. He has published articles and book chapters in his field and has presented lectures on Hospice and Palliative Medicine throughout the United States and Western Europe.
